Breaking: Trailer crushes seven students to death in Lagos

No fewer than seven students have been crushed to death by a trailer on Tuesday afternoon at the Ojodu Berger area of Lagos.

Nigerian Mirror gathered that the incident occurred shortly after the students trooped out of their school premises after closing hour.

A resident said the students were by the roadside at the front of Grammar school when the trailer rammed at them and killed them.

Meanwhile, it was learned that FRSC men were chasing the trailer before it crushed the students to death.

But an officer of  Vehicle Inspection Service, VIS, at Ojodu Berger who confirmed the incident said the trailer was being chased by LASTMA officials.

The incident later degenerated into a crisis as hoodlums took over the situation.

He said “There is commotion in this area currently. Hoodlums are trying to set our office ablaze. Police officers have come to our rescue, shooting tear gas at them. As I speak to you, I am currently hiding in a place for safety. I think it was LASTMA officers that chased the trailer to kill the students. The students have also joined them throwing stones, bottles inside our compound”

The Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, Adekunle Ajisebutu could not be reached as of press time.
