APC Ticket not meant for ‘riff-raff’ and ‘moneybag’, Babangida tells Tinubu

APC Ticket not meant for ‘riff-raff’ and ‘moneybag’, ormer Governor of Niger State, Babangida Aliyu, told former Lagos State governor, Bola Tinubu.

He said this while describing the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, as the best candidate for ruling All Progressives Congress’ presidential ticket in 2023.

Osinbajo is yet to declare interest in the presidential race.

Aliyu, speaking at the 2022 Annual Lecture of the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation in Kano State said, “Mr Vice President, do you know you are the best candidate in your party?”

He added that Osinbajo already has the acceptance of all Nigerians regardless of religion, tribe, or political party.

Aliyu, meanwhile, warned the National Leader of the APC, Bola Tinubu, to jettison his presidential ambition because the party’s ticket is not meant for his likes.

Referring to Tinubu as a ‘riff-raff’ and ‘moneybag’, he said that the ruling APC would collect money from him and give the ticket to Osinbajo.

According to Aliyu, any “riff-raff or moneybags” will not get to the highest office in the country, even if they bring out money.

“No matter how much money he has, let him bring the money and we will collect it, Mr. Vice President, wherever you go, we will follow.”
